What to Do After Indoor Water Damage

Standing water extraction from a flooded commercial floor

Learn safe first steps after indoor water damage and how Adams Cleaning LLC handles water extraction, cleaning, sanitizing, estimates, and follow up.

Indoor water damage can become more difficult when water keeps entering the space, reaches electrical equipment, or spreads into materials that are hard to access. The first steps should focus on personal safety, stopping the source when it is safe to do so, and getting the right help for the conditions.

Safety comes first

Do not enter an area with electrical hazards, structural damage, sewage, contaminated water, or another condition that may be unsafe. Contact emergency services, the utility company, the property owner, or an appropriate qualified specialist when needed. Do not handle an electrical source while standing in water. If you are not sure whether the area is safe, stay out until it has been reviewed.

Stop the source when it is safe

A leaking supply line, appliance, roof, drain, or outside water source may need to be stopped before cleanup can be effective. Shut off water only when you can reach the control safely and know what you are doing. A plumber, roofer, building manager, or other trade may be needed to correct the source. Water extraction does not repair the cause of the loss.

Document what happened

Take photos or video from a safe location before moving items when practical. Note the time, water source, affected rooms, flooring, walls, furniture, and visible damage. Keep records of calls, estimates, invoices, and work performed. Insurance coverage varies, and the insurer decides what is covered. A cleaner can provide invoices and job details for work completed but should not promise claim approval or payment.

What Adams Cleaning LLC can do

Confirmed flood work includes extracting standing water, removing unwanted water, cleaning affected areas, and sanitizing within the agreed scope. The company reviews the water source, affected rooms, flooring, access, and visible hazards before work begins. Calls and service requests are accepted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Important limits

Mold, sewage, contaminated water, structural damage, electrical hazards, damaged building materials, and conditions outside the company’s equipment or training may require another qualified specialist. Adams Cleaning LLC does not promise mold remediation, structural restoration, insurance handling, or a sterile result. These limits should be discussed before the scope is accepted.

Removing water and cleaning

Standing water can be extracted from areas that are safe and within scope. Affected surfaces can then be cleaned and sanitized as agreed. The right steps depend on where the water came from, how long it was present, the materials involved, and whether water reached hidden spaces. Some carpet, pad, flooring, drywall, or contents may need a separate evaluation or replacement.

Drying and follow up

Drying time changes with the material, amount of water, airflow, humidity, temperature, and hidden conditions. No single number fits every loss. Customers should follow the instructions provided for access, ventilation, and return to the area. If an odor, moisture concern, or visible change remains, report it promptly so the next step can be discussed.

Getting an estimate

Call with the property address, water source, affected rooms, photos when safe, access information, and any known electrical, sewage, mold, or structural concern. Pricing depends on the amount of water, materials, access, equipment, time, and cleanup needed. Adams Cleaning LLC does not publish one starting amount that fits every emergency.

Callback policy

If something within the agreed cleaning scope does not look right, contact Adams Cleaning LLC within 48 hours. The company will review the concern and, when appropriate, return to address it. Hidden conditions, permanent damage, normal wear, and work outside the agreed scope are not covered.
